Björk isn't getting out of the movie business after all. After threatening to block a film which captures the tension on the set of her film Dancer in the Dark, Björk has since given her approval to the documentary, according to Q Online. 100 Eyes is a look at the arduous shoot for Dancer, during which the Icelandic dance diva suffered a tantrum that allegedly saw her eating her blouse.
Björk also plans to do a joint interview with Dancer director Lars Von Trier. Trier said the tension on the set had contributed to the intensity of Björk's performance. She won a Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in May for her portrayal of a mother who sacrifices everything for a son who is slowly losing his sight. The film also won the coveted Palme d'Or.
During the festival Von Trier said, "She's not acting anything in this film, she's feeling everything, which is incredibly hard on her and everyone else. It's like being with a dying person. She was really feeling this all the time, the core of this person."
Co-star Catherine Deneuve admitted there were problems on the set. "Sometimes she couldn't take what she was doing," the French actress said. "It was like a little child running away from school. Sometimes she would run away. No film is without tension, without difficulties. Björk is a wonderful person, but she's very special."
Upon winning the award, Björk announced her retirement. "I knew when I said yes that not only would that be my first role, but also my last one," she said. Björk has also written the soundtrack to Dancer, which opens in the U.S. in the fall.
