Born Nicole Avery Cox, on Jun 2, 1978, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Reportedly 5' 7".
It used to be that TV actors were pretty much doomed to never play anything more than minor characters on the big screen, if they even got to do that. Even if they were on a hit show, no one would take them seriously outside of their livingrooms. But all that's changed now: most of the cast of Seinfeld and Friends have been given major roles in numerous movies (most of them bombs), and more recently the women of Party of Five and Dawson's Creek have also been made big screen starlets.
The obvious question, then, is “Where the hell's Nikki Cox's big movie vehicle?”
Nikki Cox, for those of you don't know (and that would be most of you), was TV's answer to Jessica Rabbit a while back on the WB. To behold the dancer-turned-actress' eye-popping proportions is to stare straight into the udders of an enormous ratings cow, but no one to date has figured out just how to milk them — her first show, the WB's Unhappily Ever After, strangely chose to rip off Married ... With Children, a show which had by then already fallen from popularity; her second show, ABC's Norm, was already swirling down the ratings toilet even before she signed on. Undaunted, the WB has been back on the milking stool developing yet another show — this one where Nikki is the undisputed star. One can only hope that this show will be a little higher profile and suck a little less than her previous ventures. (Granted, I watched Unhappily with religious zeal, and taped every episode I watched, but I'm also a very, very sick man.)
In the meantime, built as she is to make us forget all the other primetime nymphets, Nikki remains virtually unknown, and the days when she's exploited on 70mm film seem hopelessly far away.
What she needs, then, is some quick, flattering exposure that everyone will see — namely, she needs a photo spread in something like Playboy. More specifically (how disturbing is it that I've taken the time to think about this?), she needs to be in photos where she's clearly naked and showing all her generous assets to good advantage, but without any of the “naughty bits” showing. That'll be saved for the movie, if and when it comes, now that a demand has been created to see what was denied us in the magazine spread. (And since that day may never come, here's someone's guess as to what that might look like.)
It's a crude and crass yellow brick road to stardom, I'll grant you, but at this point, what has she got to lose?
