Born Beatrice Cabarrou , on Dec 19, 1964, in Brest, Finistère, Bretagne, France. Reportedly 36C-25-35.

Some French actresses attempt to launch careers in the U.S. but never really catch on. Some never seek fame and fortune in Hollywood and remain in France. And some are simply so out of control that they can’t even get a work permit in the U.S.

So it has been with Béatrce Dalle, the sensually beautiful-but-crazy girlfriend in Betty Blue (1986) and the sensually beautiful-but-blind cab passenger in Night On Earth (1991). Once a hot commodity in France (she may or may not still be — it’s hard to say without speaking any French), Béatrice managed to land a potentially high-profile role as Bruce Willis’ wife in The Sixth Sense, but was declared an “undesirable immigrant” on account of her two arrests in Miami for coke possession during the shooting of The Blackout (1997), and lost the role to Olivia Williams. That she was arrested again in Paris a year later for assaulting a meter maid who was ticketing her car offered little argument to change her “undesirable” status. One can only hope that she’ll get her act together soon — she’s not getting any younger, after all, and once her physical desirability starts to drop, her political desirability will hardly matter.

Also sprach Golem.
