Whatever happened to Stacey Dash?

Granted, she was a bit of a late bloomer — she didn't have anything like a regular gig until she was 22, when she started appearing a lot on St. Elsewhere, and didn't achieve face recognition until she was 29 when she appeared in Clueless (where she played a 17-year-old). But even after all the hoopla of the movie, her name never really became a household word, and to this day she remains better known to the world as “the black chick from Clueless.”

(And yes, she is in fact black, although when I first saw the trailer for Clueless, I thought she was a white girl who, as one of the gags in the film, had fallen asleep in a tanning salon or something.)

Perhaps Stacey's career was stalled by staying on with the low-rated TV series while fellow Clueless castmates were popping up in other, more popular projects. (Even the less known Brittany Murphy is doing pretty well for herself.) Perhaps it had something to do with her disappointing nudity in Illegal in Blue, where her chest seemed not only underdeveloped for a femme fatale character, but a little misshapen as well. Or maybe, at 29, Stacey had indeed bloomed too late, and is now, strange as it sounds to the non-cynical ear, too old for Hollywood.

Which is quite the tragedy, since Stacey still has a striking face and generally good body. In fact, there's nothing really wrong with her that a good boob job couldn't fix.

Well, a boob job and a time machine, perhaps.
