Granted, Baywatch is a supremely inane show. And from all accounts, it doesn't pay much, either. But it was also a phenomenal hit, and the chances of working on any sort of hit, whether on TV or in the movies, are pretty dismal. And once a show does become a huge success, everyone on it becomes permanently associated with it, and it becomes very difficult to take them seriously in any other role. So leaving any sort of hit show, no matter how lame it is, seldom is a wise career move. Hence the less than stellar careers of people like Luke Perry after he left Beverly Hills 90210, Charlie Spradling after she left Full Moon, and, of course, Erika Eleniak after she left Baywatch. All that money on breast implants and they still couldn't keep her career afloat, a career that now sleeps with the fishes shilling for the “Fill Up & Go” weight-loss system in infomercials.
