Born on Jul 11, 1966 in Bucarest, Romania.

Some actors always stick to the same accent no matter what role they're playing. Sean Connery in particular leaps to mind, having given his English, Norman, Spanish, and Russian characters all the same speech impediment-like brogue no matter how out of place it might seem. Others, like Steven Seagal, iconify themselves by clinging to the same look film after film. Of course, Sean Connery and Steven Seagal are both big enough in showbiz that they can entertain such vanities without too much ridicule.

Elina Löwensohn, too, though infinitely less well known than Seagal, has been nurturing the same exotic, Vulcan-like image throughout her films, changing only her accent and clothes to distinguish one performance from the other. And while it's a very alluring look — I'm not complaining — one has to wonder how and why she decided on this particular one to be the sole band member of her film credit parade.

Also sprach Golem.
