Born on Feb 12, 1980 in Sana Monica, CA, United States. Reportedly 5' 3".
One problem facing every performer is getting married to the thing that made them popular, since it generally means having to choose between having a career based on something the performer has outgrown on the one hand and having no career at all on the other. It's for this reason that so many child actors whose popularity rested on their cuteness or precociousness utterly disappear as gangly teens and embittered adults, and why Courtney Love, Fiona Apple, and Alanis Morissette dropped off the pop culture radar after they worked out all their previous angst and moved on to other things. The rule here, it seems, is: when you find a formula that works, don't change it.
In this respect Christina Ricci was lucky. Standing somewhere between early Rose McGowan and early Janeane Garofalo, she came into her own when she was eleven years old in The Addams Family not for being adorably cute, but for being adorably dark, angry, and cynical a hook that was able to sustain her even through her portly teen years, when most former child actors are unknowingly preparing for careers on E!'s True Hollywood Stories. Attempts at more light-hearted roles (Mermaids, Casper, That Darn Cat, to name a few) went ignored by the public, which preferred Christina in the role of bluntly outspoken, dark-humored critic of Hollywood pretentiousness. And so it was that Christina found her niche and became a familiar icon in the indie world, offering those who were sick to death of Jennifer Love Hewitt and her busty, happy, air-headed kind a busty, angry, world-wise anti-Jennifer Love Hewitt to rally round.
Of course, most people can't stay angry forever. [I'm not] gothic or evil or weird, she insisted in an interview with Mademoiselle after years of nurturing her image of being gothic, evil, and weird. I caused a lot of that because I like to say what no one else will say in interviews. Like, I eat red meat and love fur and Screw all those animal rights people! I love to say that stuff ... I like to say, only because it's funny, that I buy only cruelty-intensive products.
Let's hope for her sake that she keeps up the angry cynic bit, because no matter how shy and normal she may be in real life, if she keeps sapping at her anti-JLH persona by insisting that all her marketably dark qualities were lies or exaggerations, what's left to base her popularity on? At 5'3", the road from freakishly thin to unemployably heavy is apparently only a couple donuts away, so she can't rely on her looks alone big chest or not (an issue that became moot in June 2002) and in any case her anime-like face with its haunted eyes doesn't hold the same broad appeal as more conventional faces. (At her worst, she looks like a young Rosie O'Donnell; at her best, she looks more interesting than traditionally beautiful.) Christina once admitted to Spin magazine that she didn't much care for the new, kinder, gentler Courtney Love; hopefully she'll keep in mind that the world may very well not care for a new, kinder, gentler Christina Ricci, either.

Post-op After.Life Wednesday, July 14, 2010 Its one of lifes cruel mysteries why once über-pneumatic Christina Ricci never bared all for the screen until after her breast reduction surgery, but what she now lacks in Sofía Vergara-like cup size she seems bent on making up for in sheer frequency of nudity particularly in last years After.Life, where she not only appears naked, but naked a lot.... A nipple is a terrible thing to waste Friday, June 19, 2009 Much attention has been paid to Heather Grahams recent pokey appearance at the UK premiere of The Hangover, but Christina Ricci, too, has a history of rolling with her high beams on, as she did last night at the premiere of Paper Man... Cursed Friday, February 25, 2005 A fitting title for a werewolf flick whose pedigree so clearly includes Scream, An American Werewolf in London and a little Ginger Snaps, but whose writing lacks the cleverness of any of them. The warg-sized turd starring Christina Ricci and Shannon Elizabeth opens today, but youd be well advised to wait for it to come to cable.... Read more
