Denmark. Land of fjords, Hamlet, O-slashes and ligatures, Lego, and, for people who remember the heyday of late-night erotic thrillers back in the early 90s, Delia Sheppard.

Delia began her public life as a model and showgirl in France, then moved to the United States to become the Penthouse Pet of the Month for April, 1988. After that she graduated to competing with the likes of Tanya Roberts and Shannon Whirry for the title of Queen of the softcore B-movies, even reading for the Sharon Stone part in Basic Instinct. Off-camera she competed with Jennifer Flavin for seniority in the stable of girlfriends Sylvester Stallone kept during the shooting of Rocky V. All in all, things were looking up for the 6' dancer.

But then she started to get tired of the whole erotic thriller genre. “You can only do so many of these things,” she told Femme Fatales. “They're very formulaic. You have three weeks, like a TV movie. I would never go out of my way to be a B-movie actress. Why would anyone? I know girls who have accepted it, but they're stuck, dead in the water. If you stay in the same genre of films you'll get typed. You have to move out of that place.”

And she did move out — but apparently not fast enough to avoid being “typed”. After 1994, given the choice between more B-movie work and nothing, it seems that Delia chose nothing. And with the brief exception of The Dragon Gate in 1999, that's exactly what she's done.

God only knows, but according to a fan of the site, Delia's been making ends meet as a showgirl in Vegas — and was even named “Number 1 Showgirl” a couple times in the last five years.
