Born Marla Lynne Sokoloff , on Dec 19, 1980, in Alameda County, California, USA.

“I'm pretty sure that this is going to be it for the teen thing,” the buxom TV-turned-film nymphet solemnly declared in an interview to promote her teen-targeting Whatever It Takes.

Well, live and learn.

San Francisco-born Marla Sokoloff immediately followed up Whatever It Takes with such titles as Dude, Where's My Car?, Sugar & Spice, and Sorority Rule. Not exactly the Citizen Kane she was apparently expecting as reward for her performances, but definitely steps in the right direction — say what she might about teen exploitation flicks, but they're part of the time-honored cursus honorium for all hot TV actresses looking to get into film. Pickiness has its place, but when the pickin's are slim (as they usually are in Hollywood), it's the picky actress who never leaves the little screen ... and the less discriminating, topless one who becomes immortal.

Word to the wise.

Also sprach Golem.

Smittin
February 6, 2002
Actors-turned-singers command so little respect in this world that most actors with a musical night job take pains to explain that they were interested in singing before their acting careers took off, and Marla was no exception as she plugged for her band Smittin (her spelling, not mine) on Craig Kilborn last night. Perhaps someday, if I get ambitious, I'll post samples of music by Marla, Kari Wuhrer, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Danielle Brisebois — and defy anyone to tell one actress/singer's music from another's.

The Brotherhood of Poland
October 13, 2003
From TVGuide.com:

SECOND CHANCE: Here's some "TV News" scoop from the current issue of TV Guide magazine: Just months after pink-slipping former Practice receptionist Marla Sokoloff (as well as five other colleagues), David E. Kelley has hired the actress back. Sokoloff has been cast in a multi-episode arc on Kelley's struggling CBS drama The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire. She'll play Audrey, a local recruited by Mare Winningham 's character to sing in her new theater. She'll first air in December.
