Born on Aug 9, 1972 in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

If there’s such a thing as a 90s, grrrl-power counterpart to Valerie Bertinelli, it’s Liz Vassey.

Even if you don’t know who she is, you’ll recognize her character no matter where you see her, because it seldom varies: Beautiful, but mostly in a cute and wholesome sort of way. Provocatively dressed, but suspicious of men to the point of asexuality. Attracted to the anti-feminist male lead, but too vocally feminist herself to do anything about it. And at least a little neurotic because of it.

Before 2005, when she became a regular on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Liz was seemingly competing with Lauren Graham for the title of “Queen of Canceled Series”: she appeared or starred in many short-lived shows, most of them comedies — including HBO’s boobs-and-old-footage sitcom Dream On (where I first saw her and was immediately infatuated), The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space (a pilot that was never picked up), Brotherly Love (a himbo/quasi-family sitcom that moved to the Disney Channel), The Tick (funny, but canceled after nine episodes), the critically acclaimed but unwatched Push, Nevada, and the twice-canceled Tru Calling.

Once upon a time, I used to pine for Liz’s face to appear on something that would last more than a few weeks, but by the time she appeared on CSI, that face was looking a little botoxed (and otherwise unnaturally altered). My interest in her now, like in so many of the other actresses on this site, is mostly one of nostalgia.

Also sprach Golem.
