With the success of movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, I suppose it's to be expected that youth-targeted TV shows like Party of Five and Dawson's Creek should become the new big screen recruiting grounds, at least for a while. The latest potential starlet I noticed on promos for these shows (I can never sit through more than five minutes of the shows themselves) is Michelle Williams, but I've been reluctant to put her on The Iconophile because (1) I didn't think Dawson's Creek would last, and even prayed that it wouldn't so I wouldn't have to hear its irritating, simpy theme song every 20 minutes in commercials; (2) every picture I see of Michelle is disturbingly different — in some she looks hot, in others unremarkable, and in still others like she'll be as fat as the girls from Facts of Life by next season. (She's already starting to look a bit like a Hobbit on the show.) Still, fat or thin, she has an intelligence and a quiet charisma that make her — for me, at least — much more interesting to watch than some of the other, more popular girls on the WB. Hopefully the last Halloween sequel and Dick will help things get a little more definite with her — otherwise little Samwise will have only The Iconophile to remember her after she's eaten her way off of Dawson's Creek.

In the mean time, she could help get things moving by getting naked on film while people still want to see her. And I do mean film; stripping down in her off-Broadway production of Killer Joe in front of a handful of New Yorkers doesn't count ... although her braless and briefly topless performance in HBO's After-School Sapphic Special If These Walls Could Talk 2 is an excellent start in the right direction.
