Hmm
Well it’s about damn time: The L.A. coroner’s office reported today that Brittany Murphy’s death, while preventable and partly drug-induced, was an accident.
More specifically, the report said that Brittany’s cardiac arrest was caused by pneumonia, severe anemia, and drug intoxication.
Now since this last bit is probably key to every Brittany death pool out there, it should be said that both drugs were legitimate cramp and cough meds, but this self-medication at a time when Brittany needed real treatment helped to trigger the cardiac arrest. Had someone taken her to a hospital earlier to treat her pneumonia and anemia, the rest wouldn’t have happened.
So drugs were partly at fault, but not the illegal variety so many people were expecting. It’s officially an accident, but arguably a case of gross negligence, too.
In any case, the matter’s now settled, and surviving husband Simon Monjack’s threatened wrongful death lawsuit against Warner Brothers looks even dopier and more self-serving than before.
