Six Degrees Is Back ... But Why?

At a time when so many other shows are being yanked off the air, why is Six Degrees — which so few people watched that it was canceled after only six episodes — being brought back?

There are two answers to this.

The first is money: ABC had already ordered thirteen episodes, and apparently it was cheaper for it to retool the show and try to recoup its losses than to give up on the show altogether.

The second is Erika Christensen’s rack. Though she was in last night’s episode for only a few seconds, I was reminded of why I bothered Tivoing the series (though not yet watching it) in the first place.

The real question, then, is not “Why is Six Degrees back?”, but “Why doesn’t Erika’s cleavage get more airtime?” However lofty the creators of the show may feel its message and mission to be, it’s still a show after all, and one that no one’s watching. It would do well to capitalize on what assets it has — and for the time being, at least, Erika seems to have both of them.
