Well, while most TV stars never fully escape the “small time” stigma of the small screen — which is to say their careers already peaked with whatever TV show made them famous — Jessica Alba appears to be a much bigger deal now than she ever was before.

And why? Why her over, say, Nikki Cox? Is it the unrelenting media blitz that’s paid off, the saturating, inescapable presence of Jessica on magazine covers at the check-out line, in guest appearances on MTV, Entourage, and every talk show on the tube? Or is it that same ridiculous but unfailing formula that’s been working so obnoxiously well for Brittany Murphy: that she simply dyed her hair blonde?
