The End of Roswell

The mothership is finally leaving, and Katherine Heigl has a lot to do with it.

There was only one reason to watch UPN’s silly teenage soap-opera-with-super-powers: to watch the jiggling parade of nymphets inherited from the WB. But the nymphet with the biggest jiggle on the show, the blonde bombshell that lured in most of the viewers when the show first began, abandoned her blonde-maned and busty sex appeal in the third season, and as her once-long hair hit the tonsorial floor, so did the show’s ratings. After tonight’s show, the doors to UPN’s Area 51 will be shut and sealed forever.

But will the other actresses of ailing WB and WB-type shows take notice of the Felicity and Roswell disasters and give their audience more of the hair and cleavage that it wants? Will they realize that most of their initial fans are no longer teenagers and have little time for inane teen soap operas without the constant lure of hair and cleavage?

Probably not.
