Nikki
Well, it’s finally happened Nikki Cox is back on TV with her own show, and one that critics seem to like.
Somehow, though, it seems like her visibility hasn’t much changed since she was on Unhappily Ever After. The problem might be the subject matter: I suspect that pro wrestling, despite all the hype, is really not a subject most people have any interest in, and those people that do don’t care to see it in any context except “real” matches. (Witness the failure of Ready to Rumble.) The problem might also be that, though Nikki is a Vegas showgirl in Nikki, there was a lot more cleavage bared in Unhappily.
But the biggest problem, it seems to me, is the lack of promotion. I have absolutely no interest in the WB’s Roswell, but I’ve actually sat through an episode of it simply on account of Katherine Heigl’s chest being so prominently displayed in TV ads and magazine spreads. At this point it doesn’t seem likely that we’ll ever see Nikki in Playboy, but a photo spread in Maxim (where nearly all the WB girls have gone to get famous quick) could make her a household word for a while at least in college dorms. Then maybe we’d see more ads for the show on TV, and the days of Nikki’s being a poor relation in the WB nymphet farm might at long last come to an end.
