SCARLETT’S NAKED PROMISE
Scarlett Johansson has vowed never to strip on screen.
The 19-year-old revealed: “I’m not interested in appearing completely naked in any movie. I think that breaks the spell.
“You should never give everything away. I wouldn’t do it even if it was an erotic project.”
Scarlett won a BAFTA award for her performance in Lost in Translation, in which she played a newlywed who meets a retired film star.
In the movie, she showed off her bottom in a pair of see-through knickers.
But she said she was nervous about the scene.
Director Sofia Coppola eventually had to put on the transparent underwear herself to show Scarlett it would not look too explicit.
The actress told the Sunday Telegraph: “In the end, I did it and I’m pleased even though it didn’t make me look like a very respectable girl.”
What I’m getting from this is that, while Scarlett is ideologically opposed to screen nudity, in the end she can probably be gotten to do just about anything with a little creative cajolery. The main hurdle, perhaps, is her present manager who’s also her mother. If that business arrangement ever comes to an end, Scarlett might do like a pent-up girl fresh out of Catholic school and fly into a whirlwind of liberating taboo-breaking. We can only hope.
