In The Last Temptation of Christ, an angelic Satan assures Jesus that “there is only one woman in the world, with different faces”. More and more, that One Woman seems content to use Scarlett Johansson’s face alone, whether as “the new face of Mango” or “the first celebrity face of champagne”. But not so much Scarlett’s famous physique. The reason for this dearth of décolletage? As became clear in Tokyo a couple of days ago, Scarlett’s face is all she has left.

Moët & Chandon uncorked more than just a new advertising gimmick when it hosted a “Tribute to Cinema” on Tuesday and introduced Scarlett as its first “Moët Muse” — the Tokyo event was also the first real glimpse of Scarlett’s cleavage we’ve had in some time. And as much as I love Scarlett, I have to concede that the Empress has no curves now.

Hopefully this state of affairs is more Renee Olstead than Jennifer Connelly, and can be corrected by something as simple as eating. In the meantime, a boobless Muse seems a sad icon for the dolce vita Moët is trying to convey, and a jugless Johansson a less viable actress given her upward failing career thus far.
